Re: Plugging My Stuff

Title: Re: [GWL] Plugging My Stuff
Ok, now THIS is the kind of thing that is well worth mentioning.  It's unusual, it tells us more about a list member, and it's the kind of thing that could make a good, if slightly offbeat, garden gift.    Ellen's next project should be music FOR the plants, to help them grow better.

Keep it up.

Ok Lon, after reading your latest email I've decided to go out on a
limb and plug my latest project.  Here goes:

For those of you who don't know me, my first career was as a Broadway
performer.  I greatly prefer life as a horticulturist, but I still love
to sing, so this year I recorded a collection of songs about plants.
It's entitled "Green Up Time" (Ellen Zachos sings Botanical Broadway).
You might be surprised by how many show tunes there are about plants,
flowers, and fruit; I know I was.

This recording includes popular musical theatre songs by Rogers &
Hammerstein, Leonard Bernstein, and Jule Styne, among others.  You'll
also find little known gems by Ira & George Gershwin, Lerner & Lane,
and Rogers & Hart.  I was fortunate to work with world class musicians
from both the jazz and Broadway arenas.

The CD is currently available through my website: www.acmeplant.com.
If you don't want to browse the site, go directly to
www.acmeplant.com/store  You'll find a list of songs and participating
musicians, and within the next few days there will be mp3 files linked
to several titles, so you can hear samples of what I have to offer.

I'm happy to answer any questions about the project.  It's a labor of
love, combining two things I'm passionate about: music and plants.

Ellen Zachos
