Title: Re: [GWL] Page sequencing
Are you using Word, Margaret? Here's how you start
renumbering in the middle of a document:
What you need is a section break where you want the page numbers
to restart.
- Simply place the cursor at the bottom of the page that goes before you want the numbering to restart. Go to the "Insert" menu, choose "break" and from the "break" pulldown menu, select "section break (next page)." That will tell the document to insert a page break that is also a section break at that point in the document.
- Place the cursor in the footer of the new page 1 (or whatever number you want to start the numbering at) and go back to the "insert" menu. This time, select "Page Number" and you should get a dialog box for Page Numbers. At the bottom of that box is a button labeled "format."
- Click the "format" button and you'll get a second dialog box labeled "Page Number Format." At the bottom of that box is a section labeled "Page Numbering." The options there are to continue numbering from the previous section or "Start at" and then a box to type in the number you want the new section to start numbering from.
- So, if you want the new section (like the page after the table of contents page) to start as page 1, choose "Start at" and type 1 into the space next to it.
Voila! Your document should restart numbering on that page
as page one. If you want to start at page 2, just type "2"
into that box next to "Start at." You can type any
number into that box.
If you need more help, contact me off -line.

When I put together proposals and long documents that require a face sheet,
title page, acknowledgements, etc., I do it in a separate file. As far as
page numbering, if you are using Windows, click on Insert, and then click on
Page Numbers. The box that comes up lets you delete a number on the first
page. The Word file can be imported by Publisher. If you are a Mac user, I
don't have a clue. But, someone should be able to jump in here with Mac
suggestions.
