RSS feeds yet again.

As an aside and addenda to RSS feeds and Blogs - I was one of those gwa members who got to sit and listen to Jeff Lowenfels expound ad nauseum (grin) on the benefits of computers (I already had one). I remember using Visicalc and watching in awe as the bank cash flow projection changes flowed down the page and recalculated each number automatically. My watch and telephone now have more computing power than that old system. I think my first web page was back in the early 90's somewhere but I'd have to check the way-back website to confirm that.

This makes me somewhat of a dinosaur but I confess I still get excited when I see what people are doing with technology.

Grid technology - the overlapping of graphical data is one of the coolest things to come along in a long time. Click on a map and it gives you topographical data - click again and it gives you hotels and motels. Model the world and you can turn it upside down or inside out (they're doing that too) You can load any kind of graphical information on top of other graphical information to form information grids. "Way cool" LOL

This RSS stuff is still pretty much new to me (I've found a world news hort feed and a UBC feed that look interesting) but it speaks to my imagination about how we writers transfer information to our customers. Or how horticultural companies transfer information to us as writers. Or how gwa transfer information to us as members. I've got a lot to learn about it all.

Part of my interest is related to horticulture but the other part is related to another small income stream - I play around with technical writing and try to keep up with this stuff. Its partly boyz and toyz but partly a desire to be on the cutting edge of information transfer. (and figure out a way to make money doing it) :))

In short, don't be surprised if you haven't heard of this stuff. Just know however that you will - and soon.
