Hi Graham,

I've found that ever since I split up images into subparts in the
hort.net gallery, image theft has become virtually non-existent.
Granted, there are still ways around it, but they take time and
probably aren't worthwhile to most thieves.

I'm curious, though... What do you do when you find your images
on someone else's site? Here in the US we don't have much legal
recourse unless we can prove loss of income, and then you have
to do it within a certain amount of time, register with the
copyright office, etc. You can invoke the DMCA to shut down a
Web site, but the DMCA is such a horrific piece of legislation
that I feel hypocritical using it.

For example, I repeatedly contacted Lazy K Nursery about their use
of images from hort.net (in our pre-anti-theft configuration). They
*still* have images from us in their gallery at

      http://www.lazyknursery.com/images/pictures.htm

In fact, I believe that *all* of their pictures in the gallery came from
   hort.net.

I've been toying around with the idea of a 'hall of shame' (similar to
what Philip Greenspun does at photo.net) to publicly 'out' transgressors:

      http://philip.greenspun.com/copyright/hall-of-shame.html

   So... What do *you* do?

Chris
