THIS JUST IN FROM TIMBER PRESS: CHEERS,
JEFF L
We are delighted to announce the appointment of Tom Fischer as Executive Editor at Timber Press, starting November 15, 2004.
Many of you will know and have worked with Tom in his various roles at Horticulture magazine—most recently as Editor—where he has been for the last 14 years. In that time he has discovered and nurtured some of the most knowledgeable and talented writers on gardening and horticulture, a number of whom have gone on to publish books with Timber.
Tom brings to the job a broad and deep knowledge of the world of plants and gardening; the ability to spot new trends and talent; and the respect and admiration of gardeners, writers, and publishers throughout the United States and beyond.
Tom will be Timber’s chief acquisitions editor, replacing Neal Maillet, who left the company recently to return to business book publishing. Tom will be commissioning books ranging from plant monographs and encyclopedias to practical manuals and garden design books.
Anna Mumford is Tom’s counterpart in the UK. In the few years since she joined the company, Anna has commissioned and published books from many of Britain’s top garden writers, contributing to Timber’s enviable transatlantic gardening list.
Botanical Editor Dale Johnson will continue to acquire books with more botanical focus, and Editorial Director Eve Goodman will look after translations and Timber’s Pacific Northwest regional list.
All of us at Timber are very proud of our reputation as the premier publisher of horticulture and gardening books. With Tom’s appointment, along with that of our new Sales and Marketing Director, Michael O. Campbell, we see a bright and exciting future publishing the best books in our field.
Please join me in welcoming Tom to Timber Press.
Kind regards
Jane Connor
