Hi Betty,

Interesting that you should ask this question now -- it's something I'm
branching out into with my new nursery.

I'm planning on sending mini-CDs with PDFs of my catalog to customers.

I know that Heronswood sells a photo with CDs on it, but I think that
trying to cater to different operating systems like they did can end up
   making the interface 'klunky'.

In my case, I decided on a PDF because of its ubiquitous nature and
control over formatting. It also makes image extraction more difficult
so that people won't steal photos (although it can still be done, of
course). It works well when you're just presenting an encyclopedia of
information and don't need to dynamically generate content.

I chose mini-CDs because they're cuter (and thus more memorable) and
fit into a regular envelope. I'm doing all of the burning myself --
with a decent CD burner I can create one in a minute. It also
allows me to make changes later to correct typos, add images, etc.

Chris

P.S. If anyone wants to be on my nursery's newsletter mailing list and/or
US mail list, send me a note with your email address and mailing
      address.
