Re: Website to promote book

I used NetObjects Fusion (v. 7) to construct my business site. The
software is template based, and if you have any experience with
desktop publishing it is relatively easy to get to grips with. It's
certainly easier than Adobe InDesign, though not as flexible.

I customised my site with my own logos and pictures. Whichever web
design program you end up with. It will help if you have some form of
photo package (like Photoshop Elements) to prepare the pictures that
you want to use.

My site is hosted by the company that I bought the domain name from,
and it has been working OK for the last year, though it will be time
for an update soon.

I picked up the NetObjects program for free on a magazine cover disk,
as it was a recently superceded version. You can purchase the latest
full version (ver 10 now) for around $200, which is less than fully
featured (but complicated) programs like Dreamweaver. Keep an eye
open for free or discounted versions.

My website is more of an online CV to back up my business, but I used
a link deep inside the site to my old book on Amazon. In theory you
get a small percentage of any sales made. However, as Amazon also
directs to (very) cheap second hand books, the income will be
minimal. I'll be removing that link in future and selling the book
either mail order, or looking into on-line direct sales.
