Re: Website to promote book
When I started my web site in 1996 a friend helped get me started with hand
coding, to learn this all I had to do was look at what was displayed and
compare this to the source code you can look at any web pages code with
explore by going to VIEW and selecting SOURCE . Today it is much quicker to
use a wysiwyg program (what you see is what you get) I use Dreamweaver. It
is good to be able to read some of the code because occasionally you need to
get under the hood and fix something.
My book sales are doing O.K. with 2 ways to buy the book a Paypal button and
a link to Amazon. I prefer folks use the paypal as they take less of a cut.
I'll soon be adding the Google Checkout button also. I want to make it as
easy as possible to buy my books
I also note that people can send a check if they don't want to do an online
transaction. Be sure to add a tracker like statcounter or extreme tracking
so you can find out where your hits are coming from and if your promotions
are working at all. Don't bother with the submission service just do it
yourself on the top 5 search engines. (they will find you anyway)
Good luck with your site.
