Re: digital magazines
My .02 as a reader of digital magazines. My creds: I'm pushing 70 in a
few months, find I need larger type and dark backgrounds are AWFUL to
read on, BUT I have Zinio Reader and subscribe to MacWorld and Organic
Gardening through it. It is a page turner model. I wouldn't give it up
for purely digital and probably wouldn't subscribe at all if I had to
sit before my computer to read them all online. I take my laptop to
bed or on planes and other hurry-up-and-wait situations and thoroughly
enjoy the pleasure of turning the pages, even though it's with a mouse
click. I've never had trouble with its implementation and I can
enlarge sections that are troubling to read otherwise at will.
I spend most of my days reading and working online for the volunteer
work I do, and even check MacWorld Reviews and info in Organic
Gardening and the American Gardener that way when I need to research
something. I read the American Gardener in paper form, though I
research in it online. I rarely go to back issues with the Reader. So,
I would say, you need to think about who you are trying to reach. One
of the things I love about the page-turner software is that I can do
it with one finger and the laptop monitor angle is easily adjustable,
but doesn't have to be held. Persons with limited strength or mobility
can enjoy it just as I do.
As I begin to cut back my outsize collection of magazine subscriptions
both for economic reasons as well as environmental, those that can be
read online and, even subscribed to solely online, will stay at the
top of my keeper list.
Just one subscriber's opinion.
