The End as we know it
*How much of our income is directly from garden writing?*
Not much in my case. But I will say it helps.
*How much of our income is from activities, e.g. lectures, presentations,
seminars, secured as a direct result of our writing?*
My answer here would be $0.00. But you should know that I still consider
myself a rookie after only 7 years of trying to "make it" as a writer. I've
not published a book, nor given many lectures. I'm a gardening columnist
trying to do those things other seasoned garden writers have already
accomplished.
*Do we consciously solicit those activities through our writing? (As opposed
to advertising.)*
If you're asking whether or not I advertise speaking services in my
newspaper articles, the answer is no, I don't. At least I don't think I
have. Maybe I should start, but wouldn't that be unethical?
