Garden Writers Luncheon at MANTS on Jan. 6

Just a reminder you are invited to attend our Garden Writers Luncheon at
MANTS in Baltimore on Jan. 6.

Tim Wood of Spring Meadow Nursery, breeder of BloomerangT Reblooming Lilac,
will give a talk about developing the Bloomerang. Tim will also discuss the
origin of InvincibelleR Spirit, developed by Dr. Tom Ranney. Here is the
details again: Garden Writers Luncheon at MANTS, Baltimore: Wednesday
January 6 11:30-2 pm, Sheraton Inner Harbor, Severn II and III rooms

We have a second luncheon planned for MidAm, Chicago: Thursday January 21
11:30-2 pm, Hyatt Regency McCormick, Room CC20A

There is no cost to attend these two luncheons, though we are filling up
spots fast...and we need to reserve your spot ASAP. Please RSVP the total
number in your party to: Shelly Plooster, shelly@springmeadownursery.com
1-800-633-8859 ext. 1203.

Here is a preview of Tim Wood's presentation: "Reblooming lilacs are not
unheard of," said Tim. "We've observed sporadic reblooming on several
species, but we wanted something with a more significant display and also
better flower color." Over a thousand seedlings were sowed in a wet area to
cull out those with sensitivity to wet feet. "Many small leafed lilacs have
problems with root rot. We lost about three quarters of the original group,
but it was a quick way to select for healthy roots." Tim narrowed the
remaining plants down to five selections with the strongest blooms, and from
those finalists selected Bloomerang R Purple. He hopes to add additional
colors to the Bloomerang series...
