Doug isn't pushing Bob or GWA anywhere. Bob has made it perfectly clear
that peer to peer communications (such as this private listserv) are not in
the future of GWA - for legislative reasons (as Amy referred to). Bob has
his own problems with running an organization and I have no problem with
that from his point of view and interpretation of legislation. However,
knowing that the basics of modern technology communication are structurally
impossible for GWA means any improvements are like duct-taping shiny chrome
bits to an 59 Volkswagen and I don't have the time or inclination to work on
projects that are already doomed to failure.

When I'm going to fail - I'd rather fail at something interesting that might
work. :-)

About the possibility of video conferencing, however, I will throw out some

I was honored to be asked to sit on the AHS book committee (as are several
on this list). The books are sent to our houses in Dec and it's a tough
enough job to go through 40 books honestly in a month and give them a decent
reading and evaluation. We send in our recommendations via email to AHS
and those are tabulated. We meet on a phone conference for several hours
and agree on the winners. Neat and clean and if you agree to do the work -
then you have to fit in the time. Man, there are some good books out
there! :-) And I've learned a ton this past December. Viveka Neveln gets a
huge attaboy for making it all happen.

Do all that honestly and properly in a weekend - that's pretty cursory
reviewing.

Enuff said. I have a breakfast party to go to...

Happy New Year folks - may the simple gifts of life be yours this coming
year.

Doug
