Hi Ellen,

I guess I was thinking in terms of the editor's needs. We writers have
essentially been given the typesetter's responsibilities in addition to
our own. If you insert the "extra" space, the editor (or editorial
assistant) has to go through and take them all out prior to publishing.
Yes, it can be done with global search and replace, but it's still an
extra step that's no longer necessary.

I was never a very quick typist and I'm guessing that it's a difficult
habit to break for folks who are going three times my speed. :-) .
