Re: Fwd: [permaculture] New book focused on small scale permaculture

Suzi, this is very cheering info!  Permaculture is the future, as well as the past, as Lawrence has explained.

My parents grew food so it seems natural to me to do the same.

When I lived in Florida in the 'eighties I knew Marian Van Atta, known as Florida's Mother Nature. Marian and Jack grew everything they ate and also had built their house with help from local laborers. When they moved in, they found  baby citrus trees growing everywhere. They were sprouts from the grapefruit pits spit out by the workmen who were eating homegrown produce for lunch. Marian and Jack transplanted a long line of them for a food-bearing hedge. By the time I knew Marian, the trees were mature, producing countless bushels of grapefruit every year. Seedy ones, of course, but delicious.

Permaculture.
