[GWL]: Can we develop a database of Garden Magazines?

I'd say your experience probably runs par for the course. I have to
admit I usually favour articles from writers in our distribution
area over those outside the region. However, there are exceptions.
I've published the occasional article from writers more than 2,000
miles away if they were on topics I believed our readers would be
interested in. And reprints are usually okay. Hmmm....hard way to
make money, eh? There's always those few regional  editors out there
that will accept articles from outside their  area. One thing to take
into consideration is most of these pay less than larger
publications.  But for some writers, lots of little eggs fill the
basket.

For instance, I have one writer (the only ONE who approached me from 
this list when I mentioned I was editor of a publication) who sold 
me on an idea for a reprint.

And get this - I've sold several of my reprints to Arizona Magazine. I live 
in Nova Scotia, Canada. Those US dollars are golden ;-)
