I had sent the following e-mail reply to Diana earlier, but don't know if it went through, so here it is again. I just saw your response, Donna (glad you're feeling better), and if you and Tom want to take on a garden mag database, this is a good place to start. Also see http://www.publist.com. Just putting the word "garden" in the search field fetches up more than 100 entries. The specific topic search was being worked on when I tried it, but assume that it would be even more thorough.  Anyway, it seems to me that there are directories galore out there so there's no need to reinvent the wheel, just do some perusing and selecting.

If you go to http://www.mediafinder.com/ and click on the category, Gardening and Horticulture, it gives you a list of 607 publications, including catalogues, with a brief description. To get more info, they want you to subscribe, but if you see something of interest, you can always search the web for that particular publication - most will have their own sites.

Your local library will probably have the paper version of these directories which includes addresses, phone numbers, faxes, etc., and often staff names as well.
