Re: Water gardens and fish/be informed!


Larry  Right ON!  It seemed like a good idea to use chain saws to cut limbs 
off of trees in a manner that nothing protruded from the line of the tree 
trunk.  Then a very smart man was paid by the Forest Service to investigate 
why there was so much rot in trunks in commercial production forests.  He 
found the structure of the trunk and branch was was not what had been 
supposed by people who had not checked things out thoroughly by experimenting 
and observing and repeating the experiment.

We've all at least heard of the scientific method, but it is so much fun to 
get excited about the latest enormous threat to life as we know it, that we 
don't use the scientific method as often as our junior high science teachers 
would wish.  That sentence will exercise every composition teacher I've ever 
had.
