Re: Echinacea allergies

    There is no substitute for the truth. If you or your child happens to be
the one who has a severe allergic response to any substance, herbaceous or
otherwise, then it is crucial that you understand exactly what caused it, so
that you may avoid it in the future. Allergies to particular plants are
perfectly common and happen all the time. Some allergies are deadly and
because of the work I do, I (all too often) encounter people who have lost a
close friend or relative from anaphylactic shock. These are frequently young
people, often children.

    Nonetheless, there is no doubt that a huge number of people also
experience allergic reactions from over the counter and prescription drugs.
Herbs are easier to "attack" in print since no herb has a large legal firm
backing it up.
One last point: to speak of all "herbs" as though they are one and the same
is quite an over-simplification. "Herbs" are neither all beneficial, nor are
all "herbs" potentially harmful. Herbs cover a lot of territory. Each has to
be taken entirely on its own merits.
