National Gardening Association Seeks "Green Groups" to Celebrate National
Garden Month in April
Burlington, VT - January 27, 2003 -It's being called the "super bowl" of
gardening, and organizers are sure it will change lives, neighborhoods and
communities.
That's because gardening has power, and that power to transform lives is the
central theme of National Garden Month in April organized by the
not-for-profit National Gardening Association.
Gardening events are expected coast to coast in schools, public gardens,
community centers and garden centers, and National Gardening Association
needs help from garden organizations, community groups and retails centers
to join in planting events, educational efforts and ceremonies.
Home gardeners, garden clubs, community groups, schools, churches, hospitals
and public gardens are urged to use this month to share what they feel is
powerful and transformative about gardening.
All activities can then be posted on the National Garden Month calendar at
www.garden.org. "Green groups" can create links to their own Web sites for
gardeners in their areas to access and learn about local events. Schools
can download applications to win a Star(r) Rose garden. Public gardens can
find information on the site where they can get a free National Garden Month
banner.
The site also feature suggested garden-related events and activities for all
gardeners, educators, retailers and other interest groups. Powerful and
inspirational essays are also posted on the site.
