Website as a marketing tool

Thank you all for your off-list comments from my last post.  It is extremely
important that you realize that new websites are often first reviewed by
independent real people and it is their classification of your site and its
attributes which are submitted through a provider to the major search
engines listed in my last post.  It is a well known secret that new websites
mass submitted as apposed to an individually submitted site are discounted
and put at the bottom of the pile.  Only submit on your own to the major
search engines listed in the post.  Remember that the quality of the search
engine affects your page ranking.  To improve this page ranking follow the
last post.  This should give you a good site for the subsequent crawlers,
spiders and robots whose logirthiums will be set to love your site.  The
high quality of the inbound links will also improve the page ranking and
poor ones such as porn sites will probably lower it.  For example:  my
article on snails and slugs got me a very high page rating for the keywords
"hot hermaphrodite" Therefore content will also be important.
Make sure that your stats package is no more than one to two years old.  It
should allow you to track all visitors to your site and give you live access
to watch how they are moving around your site.  It also will allow you to
know exactly where they are coming from.  Why focus your marketing on the US
when your audience maybe living in Australia or elsewhere in the world.  It
should also rank each page on your site by the day, week, month, and range.
This is important to make sure that your pages are equally weighted in their
importance.  Weak pages should be reviewed for content and internal links.
It is important that your URL represent you or what you are promoting.  This
URL should be as short a description as possible.  For example:  if you are
selling widgets your URL should be www.widgets.com . A dot com is more
recognized throughout the world though other extentions .org, .us, etc are
becoming more popular.  Having a domain name as a folder on another site
will allow it to appear to the world as a free standing site therefore
www.widgets.com could reside on any site.
