Re: Presentation Surveys

Title: Re: [GWL] Presentation Surveys
Usually the surveys are done by the people who ask me to speak and they share the results with me. The findings can be very helpful. Some questions I like:

*Did the presentation meet your expectations?
*Were the handouts clear and helpful?
*Length of program...too long, too short, about right.
*The presenter was effective...not at all, very well. This question could be broken down as presenter was knowledgeable about subject matter; explained material clearly, etc.
*What would you change about the program?
*Quality of slides, props, etc. were....good, bad, average....
*Demonstration was easy to follow.
*Suggestions for other programs.

Keep the survey short and make it easy to reply...such as check marks in boxes or an easy to understand rating scale. (5 the best, 1 the worst, that kind of thing). No more than one page. Place it on the chairs or at the seating places so it's there when people come in. Tell people about the survey at the beginning of your talk and at the end, remind people to please fill it out. I'd still try to get the host (library, garden club, flower show, etc.) to do the survey and share the results with you rather than your trying to do it.

Favorable comments may be used in marketing materials to get more presentations.

Marge Talt is right in that survey questions can be skewed to get the information you want, which can taint the findings. However, the surveys you are asking about do not need to be scientific or statistically sound...more an opinion of how you are doing and comments about the programs.

Hello. Does anyone on the list have a survey that they give after a presentation that they would share? Or even tips for what might be included in one?

I have numerous presentations coming up and would like to continue to improve them. I think asking the listeners for their thoughts might be the best way to go.
