Re: What to charge


According to the 2002 Writer's Markets, freelance magazine editing ranges from $15-60/hour.

However, it also lists: Editing: Genera, $25-500/dayor $250-2,000/issue.

If this is a new, low-budget publication, and you'll be getting paid for your own stories separately, I would split the difference on all that, and propose $30/hour during the first year if you're comfortable with charging by the clock.

If not, and it's only the few short pieces you expect, then I'd start with $125-150/issue, and see how that works out.
