Re: Wonderful World of Publishing

GWL: Back in the mid '90s, I wrote two books for The Macmillan Company, "The
Evening Garden" and "Seeds," the first being the only true book every
written on gardening in the evening and the second being one of the few
books to deal entirely with seeds, from their beginnings to American
nurseries, etc., selling or collecting them. A few of you know that due to
typical big business shenanigans, Macmillan went bust and left a lot of us
with warehoused books but no way to get them. Thank heavens for Timber
Press. In 2002 they released an updated edition of T.E.G. and last week,
they released an updated edition of "Seeds." If any of you are interested in
a review copy, I suggest you call Timber at www.timberpress.com or
1-800-327-5680. As publishers they are not perfect but they are better (to
my mind) than any others involved with gardening books today. Peter Loewer
