mushroom compost

I received a disturbing email from a friend, a very
reliable and knowledgeable gardener, who has another friend with an incurable
lung disease supposedly caused by mushroom compost.
I do not use mushroom compost myself but I have
friends and readers who rely on it heavily and use truckloads of the
stuff. Has anyone else heard stories about dangers of using mushroom
compost? If this is true, I think it is something we need to inform our
readers about. Please contact me either off or on-line.
