Hello, Andrew -
Archive and organize are essentially two different things. Your images are
not archived until they are saved in two different places - usually on DVD
or external hard drives. Cheapest route is multiple drives or a RAID drive
system.

As for organizing there are two very capable programs out there - both are
200 bucks. Please google Extensis Portfolio and iView Media Pro. Both create
thumbnails of your images, allow keywording, emailing, CD creation etc. Many
professional photogs use one or the other.
