Re: blogs and scrapers

Lois

First - the site in question is in the middle of a major rebuilding.
He's starting to take the headlines only rather than the entire
article. And that's (as Chris explained) likely OK. I have no
problem with anybody doing that - well, at least I don't worry when
they do it as there's nothing I can do. Life's too short to worry
when any link goes directly back to my site. :-) But as near as i can
tell, my stuff is totally down. But the person won't take your
content down unless you ask - and I think the site will look a lot
different in another day or two. We'll see. If I were guessing, I'd
say they're going to a typical feed headline-scraper site.

As for full versus part feeds. There may indeed be a tech reason why
the content is treated differently - I'm sure Chris would have a
better sense of that than I do and I bow to his tech-expertise on this
one. However, I do a full feed for two basic reasons. I - I like
to read full feeds on my reader. 2 - the research is clear that so do
most folks and subscriptions/site visits go up when you do. So from a
writer's-marketing perspective - full feeds work better.

All the best

Doug
