Re: Website software, new book
Amy' point about blogging software being used for basic site creation is a
really good one - I personally use WP but I have to assume Typepad is
equally good. They're both Content Management Systems (evolving from simple
blogs) that can be set up in a multitude of ways and customized ad nauseum.
URLs can be structured in non-blog ways and a casual viewer would be
hard-pressed to distinguish between the two. (use %postname% as the custom
url designation to remove date stamps on WP) :-)
There seem to be click through rate differences between blogs (even
disguised ones) and websites so if your objective is to create a system that
will make you money from advertisers such as Adsense - then you still have
to look at a website rather than a blog. But if your objective is to have a
simple static or slow-growing site -then Amy's suggestion is bang-on.
