Miss Rumphius is a wonderful book!!  More recent and wonderful in a 
different way is The Curious Garden (April 2009), another picture book

    A book with fun craft projects related to gardens and gardening is 
Gardening with Kids by Catherine Woram & Martyn Cox.  The step-by-step 
photographs are beautiful, the projects unusual and creative (not your 
standard grow an avocado pit or plant beans type projects), and the
