Re: Alstroemeria

Hi, Andrew!

We're on the other side of the rain/snow line so we got 2 1/2" of rain yesterday, and snow this a.m. when the colder air arrived (thanks for sending it over!).

As for the alstroemeria, tried the Sweet Laura a few years back in my zone 5/sometimes 6 garden. First year it didn't make it. Year two I grew it in a container that I lifted in the fall and wintered over in the basement which did just fine, but forgot to lift it the following fall. That was the last time I bought/planted it.

Has anyone on the list had experience with Alstroemeria in zone 4 or 5?
Thinking about giving these a try this year in my coldest garden (three
feet of snow in the last 24 hourswhich should melt some time in
mid-April...but it's a great insulator). The two that are tempting me are 'Glory of the
  Andes" and 'Sweet Laura'.
