Re: Impatiens Downy Mildew

Lois - How do you manage to grow mountain laurel, azalea, and rhododendron
with deer around? Do you spray? Or are you blessed with an absence of
these munching critters?

I have much of the rest of your list, but here at our place in Virginia the
blooms (in the bud stage) are caviar to our deer, and it's not worth the
effort (unless I fence the entire 10 acres) to grow them and other deer
favorites. It's gotten so bad that I've moved many wildflowers from our
stream valley into beds at the edge of our porch just to keep their genetic
lines going. This close, at least, they have a prayer of a chance. The
woodland floor in spring is now almost stripped of what once was there. This
includes tree seedlings as well. In the future, as the woods age, there will
be no saplings to replace declining and dead trees -- not a good thing!
