need a list of All American Rose Selections winners
I was trying to find a list of All American Rose Selections winners
last night and couldn't. It seems that AARS is defunct. Specifically
I was trying to find out if 'Nearly Wild' ever won an AARS award. It
was introduced in 1941, I believe.
The director of All America Selections sent me the following, which
sheds some light on the situation:
"And here’s an article about the demise of AARS and the launch of
American Garden Rose Selections:"
http://www.lsuagcenter.com/news_archive/2013/march/headline_news/Final-AllAmerica-Rose-winner-new-trials-will-include-AgCenter-garden-.htm
The article includes the following sentences, which might bring a smile
to the face on anyone living in the northern half of the country.
"We also are fortunate that Louisiana has been selected as a test
location. If roses can grow in the heat and humidity and disease-
plagued growing conditions in south Louisiana, they can grow anywhere."
