Re: [GWL]: new topic?

Certainly spelling and usage change with the times, but does that mean we should start writing
"Me and my friend went downtown." You can hear that one a lot these days, even from students at
truly hoity-toity universities. so where do we draw the line?

there are many ungrammatical expressions that bother me a lot more than using "over" for "more
than" and i'm trying to figure out why. perhaps it's that "over" has acquired the meaning of
"more than" by now and the two are considered synonymous. But the logic of that means I'll be
writing "me and my friend" one of these days. a chilling thought. carolyn
