Re: [GWL]: Plastic greenhouse grow bags

I first found the grow bags in England more than 20 years ago and they never really seemed to take off here.  All they are is heavy duty poly bags with a peat lite mixture and a fertilizer charge.  They were originally intended for people who garden in very small spaces and didn't have gardens or beds for planting.  One problem I recall was that the bags were black and if they were exposed to the sun the roots virtually cooked.  I think the same intended use can be accomplished by simply using a bag of peat based potting soil, adding some Osmocote through an incision in the bag..mixing then using the incision hole as the planting hole.
