Re: [GWL]: Plastic greenhouse grow bags

I've used plastic growbags for greenhouse peppers. They were empty--I filled them with my own medium--and open at the top. They had numerous drainage holes on the lower sides as well as the bottom. They were also black. I used spaghetti tubes and small spray stakes to irrigate them.
 
I used them because I was trialing various nutrient mixes that could be certified as organic; my control was a well-known greenhouse synthetic. Overall, I really liked the bags. Despite the black, they did not overheat--but they were open at the top. I kept the greenhouse at a maximum of 85F, too. I did this work because I was looking for a cost-effective, certifiable way to escape the build-up of pathogens in greenhouse soils, and bags are a very good option.
 
Unfortunately, I forget the supplier of the bags--this was a few years ago. However, I know that I found the source by calling Griffith or Charley's and asking about sources. One of these companies gave me information about manufacturers. You might try doing the same.
