All myths carry a germ of truth. They come about, afterall, from attempts to
understand something, or explain a world-view. Our job as garden writers
should be to identify and explain the ones that are being used a bit too
blithely.

I agree with Bill that laying down absolutes (a gardener's moral majority?)
is just as damaging. Perhaps the result is that we reinforce that everything
is gray...
