Re: The Lythrum issue

The best summary of the problem and state of eradicating it that I've seen
arrived in my mail yesterday.

Article "Integrated Management of Purple Loosestrife" by Isa Woo, Tanya
Drlik and William Quarles, The IPM Practitioner, Volume XXIV, Number 10,
October 2002, pp1-9.

Includes why Lythrum is so successful, its problems, a few benefits (yes, to
bees, and some medicinal uses), its biology and life cycle, means of control
including biological, experience with various control methods, list of
resources, and extensive bibliography.

The IPM Practitioner is published by Bio-Integral Resource Center (BIRC), a
non-profit, PO Box 7414, Berkeley, CA 94707. Tel 510 524 2567.
