Re: Switching to digital for talks


I started shooting with a DSLR in December. Have taken hardly any film shots since then. I still give slide talks, but can see the writing on the wall. Taking digital photos is just so much easier. For those of you doing digital talks, did you scan a lot of your old slides, or did you simply start working with all your new images?
 
My problem (and I suppose the problem of lots of other folks on the list) is that the projectors and laptops are still so expensive and most hort groups don't own them, so one is either forced to buy a system, or rent one for each talk. I suppose that just like cameras, they will become more affordable. It would certainly be a lot easier to carry a CD or jump drive than have to lug along a couple of carousels.
 
I love shooting digital, so I foresee having to change over very soon.
