Re: A Potential Problem?

I haven't given a talk with slides in about three years. That's about when I reached the tipping point where I had more of the images I needed in digital form rather than as transparencies.
PowerPoint has pretty much won; hort is one of the last holdouts. In most industries, slides have been extinct for quite a while. Even Rick Darke, who used to use multiple carousel projectors, has declared film dead.
As for "too much information and no clear notion of what to pay attention to," PowerPoint does not make PowerPoint shows. It's still the speaker's responsibility to put together a coherent program. It's not fair to say that PowerPoint corrupts, absolutely or otherwise; it's just a different way of presenting pictures.
Personally, I don't miss slides. I wouldn't want to go back. PowerPoint is just too flexible and fun.
