Re: Re: scanner!

Betty and others -

Yes, a number of library projects have focused on digitization
of historical books and core literature.

Google recently announced that it will assist several major
libraries in the digitization of tens of thousands of books.

I published a list of historical agricultural literature that
is in digitial library collections.
See:

For garden writers, there is a goldmine of historical gardening
and farming literature in digital libraries on the web.

Fyi, some people may wish to know there is a small tripod
with mirrors that you can place on top of a regular paper
scanner to digitize 35mm slides. It is a cheap and practical
way to digitize 35mm slides. The scanning software usually
provides options for resolution, re-size, cropping, and
file type.

It is kind of frightening that any written work can be so easily lifted from
paper copies. If a $149 machine can do all this, just think what the high
level professional machines can do. Next thing you know there could be
illegal file swapping of garden books!

The scanner is a Hewlett-Packard item, the HP Scanjet 4070 Photosmart
Scanner. It is great!

With best wishes,
Betty
