Re: Re:  Japanese Beetles

I am watching all the discussion with great interest. When I moved to my small farm, I had beetles everywhere, and lost all my roses to them. Three years later there were none, or maybe 6 (I could count them) all year. I believe the birds took them. The other thing I did was put out beneficial nematodes on the lawn for grubs. The grubs all disappeared also. I now have an entire abundance of earthworms everywhere I turn over dirt. Since I don't spray or hand pick, or do anything special to the lawn areas, I am not 100% sure exactly what I did, but the beetles are gone and have not come back. It is possible that there are more wildlife creatures that eat them, but I suspect that the absence of the beetle grubs is the key item.
