Re: Going digital - projectors ProShow Gold
After seeing Rich's post (thanks, Rich!), I bought ProShow Gold online for
$69.95 last Sunday, from www.photodex.com . It was delivered online and I
was using it before sunset. I haven't learned all its features yet but it
does a great job of letting you put together stand-alone slide shows,
screensavers, and video shows of the pictures, to which you can add text and
sound if you want to. It lets you make a show to put onto a website, too.
You set the output size and it automatically converts the selected photos.
If you have your photo files in high resolution (usable for magazine work),
it automatically places lower resolution copies into your slide show or
whatever you are making, without affecting your originals. This saves your
having to manually change the photo resolution of your shots one by one in
order to make a presentation.
I have seen plenty of PowerPoint presentations, good and bad, but have never
used the software myself. Has anyone used both of these programs? What are
the pros and cons?
ProShow Gold lets you make a show that can play in a DVD player connected to
a TV, as well as a CD or DVD for computers. Also, the person playing the
disk does not have to have Pro-Show Gold on their machine, so presumably you
could sell stand-alone CD slide shows of photos. The screensaver maker has
possibilities too, as a tool for using your digital photos for making
promotional pieces or something to sell.
I haven't yet tried to get the timing right for a slide-like garden talk but
will keep on experimenting.
Lately I've done some live demos instead of slide shows for garden club
talks -- this solves many tech problems!
