Re: Amazon.com Advantage
Revisiting the topic of selling books to Amazon.com through the Advantage
program, I recently learned that they prohibit the selling of books that
have been remaindered. That means that Graham might not be able to get
Amazon listings for those remaindered books he has. I don't know what the
policy is on books that just quietly faded away and didn't get reprinted
when supplies ran low, but weren't marked for discard or priced low.
Here is the reasoning, quoted from the Amazon Advantage program information:
>Remaindered Titles
>Remaindered titles are not eligible for the Advantage program. A
>remaindered title is no longer being sold by the publisher and has been
>earmarked for deeply discounted sales. There are often physical markings
>such as notches cut in the binding, black marks across the sides of the
>pages, and hole punches to indicate this.
Please note that all titles submitted to the Advantage program must be
in-print, new copies. We also ask that you have 25 to 50 copies of each
title on hand and ready ship at all times during your membership.<
So that's the word from Amazon.
