All of the replies in this thread have been good. Someone mentioned going to
www.dpreview.com and read about the various models you are considering. I
second that motion. Go to the photo sample section and download actual
photos taken with your desired camera and several others. Open them in
Photoshop at 100% and compare. I did that with the Nikon D100 and the Canon
EOS 10D - it was a no brainer from there. I bought the 10D and have never
looked back.
BTW - a "6 megapixel" JPEG out of the camera makes an 18 meg TIFF file which
be 6 by 9 inches at 300 dpi - very adequate for most publications.
