things that bloom
In Southern California there are many bloomers right now, but it always
varies a little due to, rain, which we always need, cold Santa Ana winds which we
never need, and just plain cold--nights down in the high 30s to low forties.
But right now, in my garden, polyanthus narcisissus are blooming and nearly
through, a late planting of dwarf marigolds is still blooming, pansies,
violas, statice, melampodium, bird of paradise, roses, ageratum, lobelia,
calendula, cosmos, verbena tenuisecta, impatiens, nasturtium, daylily, violets,
tomatoes, sugar peas, petunia, and still a few cannas, plus white calla blooming.
Some are about over the hill, since they're really summer and fall blooms,
some are just beginning, since they're winter.
We've had the cold nights, we've had the Santa Ana winds and the weather
clowns assure us that we're going to get rain this weekend.
