Yes, I read the article yesterday, and it verifies signs I've picked up from 
playing the stock market.  I should say not playing the stock market, but 
investing in foreign currencies and commodities to preserve my 401K.

As garden writers, it should alert us to what Jeff Ball has been saying. 
Vegetable gardens WILL come back out of necessity.  We are already in a 
recession, and stagflation is very possible.  The late 1970's and 1980's 
were like this, when many of us were raising families.  That's when I got 
into vegetable gardening in a big way....to feed a hungry husband and kids, 
because grocery prices increased weekly and paychecks didn't.  The 
opportunities for gardening communication abound with the economic miseries 
we will see.

I was the guest of a plant development group last August, and their board of 
directors is made up of several large garden center chain owners.  One asked 
me at the meeting what I saw as the coming trend.  I told him that we were 
going into recession and that retailers would have to offer value to 
customers to sell products.  I don't know if he believed me, but I still see 
this as the leading trend in the retail arena in the near future.

I'm not an expert, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn last night.  :-)
