Lois,
    You may have more leverage than you think. Some Federal and State 
projects are already mandating the use of natives. When  a list of plants 
needed for a project goes out it is up to the company wanting to make a 
dollar to come up with what is needed. Nothing wrong with applying leverage 
to the industry so they will move in the direction of natives. I do not do 
the large projects, do not place bids even though we get requests to do so.
    However, we do work with local landscapers, mail-order, appointments 
here. Probably 60 percent, or more, of our business is the sale of native 
plant material. Gardeners are becoming more aware, so the meeting up on the 
retail level is going on more and more with each passing article and photo. 
You know, garden centers will often have native material in their inventory 
and not know that fact.....
    Lots of work available for us all.....
