Re: Native Plant Rescue

Lois,
Do you know where those two wholesalers retail their plants? Here in
Calif., one of the wholesalers that grows lots of natives (Suncrest)
has a page on its website showing where to buy its plants. Also,
anyone can browse the Suncrest site, and if they find plants they
want, put in a special order at the local nursery that carries
Suncrest. This is a great option for someone who's familiar with the
plants.

The other great source for natives around here (well, in addition to
the nurseries that do sell natives) is habitat restoration
contractors. Some of them open their nurseries for retail business
one day a week, and all will do contract growing, which would be
great for the developers or local government, provided they were set
up to plant them within a reasonable time (because native plantings
have failed when the plants were delivered and then sat neglected
until the planting site was ready).
