Re: Compost

I'm with Noel. I also think that those who start composting, will improve
their methods as they go along. Desultory is an interesting word. And I
don't know what an updo is but I'll agree with Jeff on principle.

When I was younger and had more time I was a meticulous composter. I made
nice compost.
Now, time seems to be running away from me and my methods have changed.
I have one bin for garden waste , lawn clippings, etc ( a large one) and 3 of
the square black ones that hold about 1/2 cubic yard. Household stuff gets
dumped in, garden bin stuff gets tossed on top. I fill the bin and move on
to the other one.
On a 170 X 90 city lot and a family of 4, we can make 3 yards of finished
compost a season- plus winter stuff. It's not perfect but it's good for soil
amendment.
We also make leaf mold.
Nothing with organic based carbon makes it to the curb.
