Hi Lois,
Clivia prefer indirect light and will flower with surprisingly little. This
is clivia's dormant period -- they should be kept cool and dry until around
March. Here's a link to White Flower Farm's cultural instructions. When I
ran the WFF web site, the horticulturist in customer service used to tell me
that the biggest cause of failure with clivia is overwatering/failing to
force dormancy. Hope this helps!
