Re: Future of magazines/newspapers
I usually get the NYTimes on weekend and the Chicago Tribune 7 days a
week. This week the delivery guy left the NYTimes on Tuesday by
mistake and as I read it, I was reminded again of how interesting
everything was, how much information there was and how shallow and
superficial the Trib has become now that they've shortened the paper
in favor of "smarter editing," according to the editors. What I want
to read every day is reliable information, based on an experienced,
trained person's best investigation and judgment. When I read opinion
(and I do, a lot), I want it to be informed opinion, not just John
Doe spouting off. Why should I waste my time with John Doe? So if
newspapers and magazines go away, what happens to credibility? Where
are the standards? Is it just the Wild West?
